Patricia Skalka

Patricia Skalka won the Midwest Book Award for Best Thriller/Mystery and the Edna Ferber Fiction Book Award for her Dave Cubiak Door County Mystery series. A board member of the Society of Midland Authors and Teaching Artist at Write On, Door County, she’s been named a Notable Wisconsin Author by the Wisconsin State Library Association.

Patricia turned to fiction after a successful career as a staff writer for Reader’s Digest, a nationally published freelance writer, and a nonfiction author. Her books include Nurses On Our Own, the true story of two women who started the first independent nurse practitioner office in the country.

A long-time Chicagoan, Patricia currently lives in Milwaukee.
