Madison Author Andrew Lifson Discusses Rogues in a Nation

On this week’s Friday Eight O’Clock Buzz, Andy Moore speaks with Madison author Andrew Lifson about his debut novel Rogues in a Nation.

The story begins when Valerie Lisowski, a veteran psychiatric nurse, is called back to her hometown of Appleton by her elderly parents to meet a mysterious stranger. That meeting opens a door to long-buried family secrets and a surprising connection to Cold War–era political intrigue intertwining with Joe McCarthy.

Lifson, who spent three decades teaching history at an elementary school, also reflects on the long process of writing his first novel and how working with children helped shape his perspective as a storyteller.
