Michael Hittle

Michael Hittle is a retired history professor from Lawrence University, Appleton, Wisconsin. During his 35 years on the faculty—including eight as dean of the faculty—he taught the history of Russia and authored The Service City: State and Townsmen in Russia 1600-1800. Since retiring he has traveled with his wife, Marcia, pursued his life-long passion for fishing, and spent a great deal of time at the family’s cabin on the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage, where he has served on the board of the lake association and worked on chronicling the history of this fabled body of water.
