Who We Work With
We are interested in both fiction and nonfiction books that celebrate Wisconsin’s nature, recreation, agritourism, travel, food, people, art, and music.
Our authors are incredibly passionate about the subjects they write about and feel compelled to tell their stories. Their books educate, delight, and have a clear purpose to fulfill. They come to us because of our reputation for being trustworthy, transparent, detail-oriented, and producing a premier product.
Why Authors Come To Us
We find that the most successful projects are the result of authentic collaboration where there is mutual respect, good communication, and trust. In short, we treat clients like they are our neighbors…because they are!
Because our niche is so specific, there is already a great deal of common ground and our goal is generally on par with our clients’ goals: to celebrate the Wisconsin that we all love by giving flight to their stories.

Our Story
In 2010, groundbreaking florist and fellow Mineral Point resident Al Felly asked Kristin Mitchell for help designing a children’s book that he had written about his well-known Santa carvings.
At the time, Kristin’s sole business was Kristin Mitchell Design, providing graphic design and book design services. But at 84 years old, Al’s sales opportunities were limited without full-service publishing assistance, and Kristin knew that. So, Little Creek Press was born as a way to help Al with his book. Her first step was hiring fellow Mineral Point resident and renowned artist Tom Kelly to create the illustrations. She then found an editor, designed the book, and took care of the little details that needed to be done in order to get the book printed.
After working with Al, it occurred to Kristin that there were probably lots of other folks like Al who could benefit from working with a full-service publisher who could help with all of the moving parts and nitty-gritty details of book publishing.
Fast forward 13 years. Little Creek Press is an award-winning publisher that has published and designed over 200 books and earned a reputation as one of the premier independent publishing choices for Wisconsin authors.
Little Creek Press takes pride in treating every author they partner with as their neighbor—giving them the same professional, fair, quality service and personalized solutions that they gave to Al 13 years ago.
Why the Dragonfly?
At its core, Little Creek Press is about sharing what makes our community special. The little creek that runs through our headquarters in Mineral Point, Wisconsin is undoubtedly a symbol of home but also a reminder of movement, transformation, and connectedness.
By giving wings to a diverse range of stories that might otherwise never be shared, a fuller and more representative story of our great state of Wisconsin can be told to readers down river and far beyond.
Our author’s stories fill in the gaps to Wisconsin’s past, present, and future by giving the world their cookbooks, nature guides, children’s books, histories, personal memoirs, and so much more.
