An Award-Winning Independent Book Publisher

Based in Mineral Point, Wisconsin

Since 2011, Little Creek Press has provided an honest, professional, and stress-free one-stop experience for passionate Wisconsin authors looking to publish quality books that are in high demand.

Our mission is to celebrate Wisconsin by supporting a community of inspired authors by bringing their stories to life. Our vision is to remain a trusted independent publishing partner for passionate Wisconsin storytellers.

Why the Dragonfly?

At its core, Little Creek Press is about sharing what makes our community special. The little creek that runs through our headquarters in Mineral Point, Wisconsin is undoubtedly a symbol of home but also a reminder of movement, transformation, and connectedness.

By giving wings to a diverse range of stories that might otherwise never be shared, a fuller and more representative story of our great state of Wisconsin can be told to readers down river and far beyond.

Our author’s stories fill in the gaps to Wisconsin’s past, present, and future by giving the world their cookbooks, nature guides, children’s books, histories, personal memoirs, and so much more.

What We Do

We publish a diverse range of books that celebrate Wisconsin and we pride ourselves on making the publishing process easy.

Our services are partnership-driven and include editing, full book design, ebooks, ISBN, barcode, global distribution, and beyond.

With over a decade of proven results (and over 200 books), we strive to provide authors with empathetic support, knowledgeable guidance, a stress-free experience, and tailored strategies that help transform their stories into books.

Who We Work With

We are interested in both fiction and nonfiction books that celebrate Wisconsin’s nature, recreation, agritourism, travel, food, people, art, and music.

Our authors are incredibly passionate about the subjects they write about and feel compelled to tell their stories. Their books educate, delight, and have a clear purpose to fulfill. They come to us because of our reputation for being trustworthy, transparent, detail-oriented, and producing a premier product.

Why Authors Come To Us

We find that the most successful projects are the result of authentic collaboration where there is mutual respect, good communication, and trust. In short, we treat clients like they are our neighbors…because they are!

Because our niche is so specific, there is already a great deal of common ground and our goal is generally on par with our clients’ goals: to celebrate the Wisconsin that we all love by giving flight to their stories.

Little Creek Press is a welcome and growing force in regional publishing, and its owner, Kristin Mitchell, is among the most talented and capable in the industry. She creates gorgeous cookbooks and steers writers through the maze of book publishing with enthusiasm, resourcefulness, and responsiveness. Whether you’re a new or seasoned author, I don’t think you’ll find a better partner, nor a better company to work with.
TERESE ALLEN
Author of The Dane County Farmers' Market Cookbook
From the beginning concept of my series to the polished finished product, Little Creek Press has produced books that I am proud to present to the public. I trust their professionalism and knowledge of the publishing world to produce a book that is appealing to a broad range of readers. Working with them is such a satisfying experience. Thanks LCP!
SUE BERG
Author of the Driftless Mystery series
From the moment of my first phone call with Kristin, I knew I had arrived at the perfect place to fulfill my publishing needs. As Kristin listened to the details of my project, the enthusiasm and encouragement in her voice were palpable. Long before that first call ended, I knew I need look no longer, and I could barely wait to get started. Kristin loves what she does, and by the time the collaboration is done, you have a beautiful book AND a new friend!
BARB PRATZEL
Author of the Manna Café and Bakery Cookbook
Little Creek Press went above and beyond in assisting us through the book publishing process, having been first-time authors. Speaking specifically to the editing process, LCP always responded in a timely manner with thorough instruction on what was needed to keep the process moving along. In many ways LCP brought ease to what would normally be a stressful project—we were so blessed to have them supporting our dreams!
KASSANDRA THOMPSON
Co-author of The American Tailwind
Kristin’s design of our book cover was “off-the-charts,” which I am sure has helped sell our book. We have a collection of 40 to 50 positive comments about our book, but our favorite was from a former CEO of one of our major customers who, after receiving a copy of our book, wrote back to us and simply said, "WOW!!" We couldn’t be more pleased.
JIM, JON, KATY, and KASSANDRA
Co-authors of The American Tailwind
If you have dreamt about publishing a book, well, hold on tight because it's about to become real. Kristin's patience, guidance, encouragement, and patience (yes, it deserves double-mention) more than deserved her spot in my acknowledgments section! Without Little Creek Press, I have no doubt that my story would have remained on a thumb drive, perhaps forever.
BROOKE SAUCIER
Author of The Isle of Stuck Faces
When Francesco and I started working together on The Osteria Papavero Cookbook, I immediately thought of Little Creek Press. Kristin gave us example layouts, so our photographer Sunny Frantz could shoot specifically to the design (which sped up the process). Kristin was transparent, responsive, and easy to work with, and I'm so pleased with how the book turned out. I'd work with LCP again in a heartbeat!

I have used Little Creek Press for three different books, and they have done an awesome job in every aspect of the process, always delivering exceptional customer service!
JOHN BURKE
Author of 12 Simple Solutions to Save America, Presidential Playbook 2020, and A Bold Plan for America
LCP edited, designed, and advised on printers and printing in a clear and professional manner for my Mineral Point Darlington Road book. I am a first-time author, and it was a pleasure working with Kristin. She has years of experience, and I would definitely recommend her as a publisher.
JOHN SHARP
Author of Along The Old Darlington Road
A book is more than a collection of printed pages. When done right, all of its elements—cover design, typefaces, illustrations, paper, layout—should act as one to support the author’s purposes. In my experience with Little Creek Press, I found that Kristin Mitchell fully understood the aspirations I had for my manuscript, and she worked collaboratively and professionally with me to produce a book that beautifully served those aspirations.
MICHAEL HITTLE
Author of An Accidental Jewel
Working with Kristin Mitchell and Little Creek Press on the release of my memoir has been a delight from start to finish. Beginning with an initial meeting, to collaboration with editing, graphic design and artwork, Kristin is a pro who cares. The attention to quality and detail are outstanding. Whether you’re a veteran of the industry or publishing your first book, you cannot go wrong with Little Creek Press.
MICHAEL MASSEY
Author of More: A Memoir
Writing a book can be emotionally taxing. You put so much love into each detail while simultaneously fighting the fears that surface after every realization that you are getting closer to publishing. Kristin at Little Creek Press became the light at the end of my dark tunnel. She helped me breathe as she led me through the process of physically bringing my story to life. To hold my book in my hands for the first time, to smell the pages and feel the energy of MY book was incredible. I thank Kristin for taking my hand and guiding me to the finish line.
NIKI BERGLER
Author of She's Done Pretending
There are so many unknowns in the book publishing world and as a first-time author, it was intimidating to move from the finished manuscript to having a published book. I had way more positive experiences than challenging ones working with Little Creek Press. The combination of personal care and professionalism made me feel at ease and confident in the next steps and with our timeline. Best of all, Kristin is a genius book cover designer. Her ability to listen, play, and not give up made the biggest difference for me and how absolutely thrilled I still am every time I admire my book. I highly recommend working with Little Creek Press for your publishing needs.

Our Story

In 2010, groundbreaking florist and fellow Mineral Point resident Al Felly asked Kristin Mitchell for help designing a children’s book that he had written about his well-known Santa carvings.

At the time, Kristin’s sole business was Kristin Mitchell Design, providing graphic design and book design services. But at 84 years old, Al’s sales opportunities were limited without full-service publishing assistance, and Kristin knew that. So, Little Creek Press was born as a way to help Al with his book. Her first step was hiring fellow Mineral Point resident and renowned artist Tom Kelly to create the illustrations. She then found an editor, designed the book, and took care of the little details that needed to be done in order to get the book printed.

After working with Al, it occurred to Kristin that there were probably lots of other folks like Al who could benefit from working with a full-service publisher who could help with all of the moving parts and nitty-gritty details of book publishing.

Fast forward 13 years. Little Creek Press is an award-winning publisher that has published and designed over 200 books and earned a reputation as one of the premier independent publishing choices for Wisconsin authors.

Little Creek Press takes pride in treating every author they partner with as their neighbor—giving them the same professional, fair, quality service and personalized solutions that they gave to Al 13 years ago.
